In today’s world, having an online presence is more important than ever. And what better way to do that than by creating and selling an online yoga course? But with so many different course platforms out there, it can be difficult to know where to start.

That’s why I’ve compiled a list of the three best online yoga course platforms and tips for creating a successful course. So whether you’re a seasoned yoga teacher or just getting started, read on for everything you need to know about creating and selling your own online yoga course.

The Big mistake Yoga Teachers Make before Creating their Course

The biggest mistake yoga teachers make before creating their courses is failing to research their audience. Who are you making this course for? What are their needs and wants? What are their biggest pain points? Once you clearly understand who your target audience is, you can create a course that speaks to them directly, addressing their needs and solving their problems.

For example, let’s say you want to create a course on how to do yoga at home. The first step is to research your audience. Are you targeting beginners who are new to yoga? Experienced yogis, who want to deepen their practice? People with injuries or chronic illnesses who need modifications? Once you know your target audience, you can create a course tailored specifically to them.

If you’re not sure how to go about researching your audience, here are a few suggestions:

  • Read through yoga forums and see what questions people are asking.
  • Look at Amazon reviews for popular yoga books and products. What do people like and dislike about them?
  • Survey your students or social media followers. Ask them what they want to learn more about in relation to yoga.

Taking the time to research your audience before creating your course will help you create something that is truly valuable and that people will actually want to buy.

Yoga teachers are some of the most compassionate and giving people I know. They have an abundance of knowledge and experience to share—but there’s one thing they often forget to do before they start creating their courses. And that researches their audience. Understanding your target market and what they need will help you create a course that sells.

The Different Ways to Create Your Online Course

Once you know your target audience, it’s time to start creating your content. There are a few different ways to do this, but the most important thing is to ensure that your content is engaging and informative. If you’re not sure where to start, here are a few ideas:

  • Create a video series: This is probably the most popular option for online courses, as it allows students to follow along with the lesson at their own pace.
  • Write a comprehensive e-book: Another great way to deliver content is through an e-book. This can be especially helpful if you’re catering to beginners, as they’ll be able to refer back to it whenever they need clarification on a certain concept.
  • Design a printable workbook: If you want to provide something that students can use as they progress through your course, consider designing a printable workbook. This can include practice exercises, reflection questions, and other materials to help them get the most out of your course.

Assuming that you have built a small community with a few people you want to help (no need to have a huge community) and do your market research, it is time to build your course.

If you need help building your community and doing market research, join Elevate Program so you can go through those steps with ease. You will find all the info on my website, yogacareerwithgwen.com

There are two ways to build a course.

The number one is to record and prepare your whole program in advance and then to look for people to join it. This is a great option when you are certain of what people need and what steps and support they will need to achieve the promise of your course.

The second way is to create your course to do it Live the first time with a discounted price to avoid a big launch and start recording the content weekly with your students. You will see every week what they need and adjust as you go.

There is no one way better than the other. I create both types of courses regularly depending on my community and my level of awareness regarding what they need. This helps me to fill out all my offers easily.

Now whatever you have decided, you will need to choose where you will create, host and sell your program.

The Top 3 Platforms To Host Your Course

Now that you know what kind of content you want to include in your course, it’s time to choose a platform to host it on. There are a lot of different options out there, but these are my three favorites:

Teachable: Teachable is another great option for hosting your yoga course. They offer similar features to Udemy, including the ability to host different types of content and integrate with social media.

I love it as a student, and this is why it is the one I recommend. You can also use it for free if you manually enroll your students, so that’s an easy way to start if you have a tight budget. I really recommend choosing a platform that you used as a student and that you feel is intuitive.

They also have beautiful templates that will make your course look professional and polished without any extra effort on your part.

Kajabi: Kajabi is another solid choice for hosting your yoga course. One of the biggest advantages of using Kajabi is that everything is all in one place – from hosting your content to setting up payments – which makes it super easy (and affordable) to get started.

I would recommend Kajabi because it has an all-in-one system means that you can do everything from it. You do not need to have another website, pay for another email service provider, or anything else. I love the principle of paying for only one thing and the ease of it.

I did not choose this one to host my course as I love my email service provider, Active Campaign, and I don’t really like it as a student, but this is my personal opinion. It is still one of the best platforms to create and host your course.

Website: The last platform I would suggest is your own website. If you have a website done already, you might be able to host your entire course there. Some of my students have done so themselves, and it works great if you are tech-savvy and already comfortable editing your website. On WordPress, you can use one of the many plugins offered to create your course.

It makes no sense to overthink where you will host your course. Your student will not ask you before paying if it is on Teachable, Kajabi, or your website. Only you know where it is, so you should decide what you feel is right.

I do not recommend choosing a new platform because they will miss many features and have more problems regularly. Platforms made only for yoga teachers like Offering Tree or Passion. Do are just starting, and I would wait before moving on those if I was you.
