Are you a yoga teacher feeling like it’s time to take your teaching beyond the studio? Perhaps you’ve been thinking about how to reach more people, create something that gives you more freedom, or even make a greater impact. If that sounds like you, it might be time to consider creating an online yoga offer. Here are seven signs that show you’re ready to take the leap.
1. You Want to Reach More People Than Locally
If you’re feeling limited by the number of students you can reach in your local area, it might be time to expand online. Many yoga teachers live in either big cities where the competition is high or in rural areas where students are rare. For example, I’ve been based on a small 7km² island for the last 10 years, and of course, the number of people I can reach locally is very limited.
Creating an online offer allows you to reach students across the globe, not just those who can physically attend your classes. Imagine being able to share your teachings with people from different countries and backgrounds—your impact and influence can grow far beyond your local studio. Some of my clients who have yoga memberships and online courses have students on all continents. How awesome is that?
2. You Want to Go Deeper with Your Students
Have you ever felt like a 60-minute class isn’t enough to truly help your students achieve the transformation they’re seeking? An online offer, like a course or program, allows you to work more deeply with your students over a longer period.
You can design the length of your course depending on the transformation they want to achieve. For instance, if someone wants to reduce work-related stress and lower their anxiety so they can have more energy and enjoy social events on the weekends, your yoga class alone might not be enough. However, if they could also access pre-recorded meditation sessions, restorative practices, and journaling prompts, they’d see much better results.
With an online yoga course, you can guide your students through a specific journey, focusing on a transformation that’s important to them, whether it’s stress reduction, increased flexibility, or developing a consistent practice.
3. You Want More Freedom with Your Schedule
One of the biggest perks of having an online offer is the flexibility it brings. If you’re tired of being tied to a rigid class schedule, creating an online offer can give you the freedom to work on your own terms. Whether it’s creating content from your favorite café or working with students from the comfort of your home, you can design a schedule that fits your lifestyle, not the other way around.
You can also combine in-person and online teaching. Most of my clients, and even myself, still teach in-person classes or workshops, but we do it because we enjoy it, not because it’s our main source of income. Some of my clients who used to teach over 20 classes a week now teach only two. Personally, I teach between one and three classes per week because I love it and can’t imagine not teaching. I’m a yoga teacher after all, and this is a big part of my identity.
4. You Don’t Want to Depend on a Studio for Classes
Relying solely on a studio for your income can be stressful, especially if there aren’t enough classes available or if the studio is far from where you live. By creating your own online offer, you become your own boss, and you’re no longer reliant on a studio to provide you with opportunities.
You can decide when to teach and have the freedom to say yes or no to class opportunities based on your schedule and boundaries, because your income doesn’t depend solely on studio classes. You’ll have multiple offers and multiple sources of income, giving you greater control over your career.
5. You’re Filled with Ideas and Want to Create New Projects
Are you brimming with ideas for new projects but don’t have the time or space to bring them to life in your current setup? You’re not alone! Many yoga teachers feel they have no time for themselves or to develop new projects. Creating an online offer is the perfect outlet for your creativity. Whether it’s a specialized course, a membership, or a series of workshops, an online platform gives you the freedom to explore your ideas and share them with the world.
Because you’ve built a sustainable business, you’ll finally have time to pursue other passions and create new projects. For example, I’m currently building my second house here in Bali, and I’m so glad I have a schedule that allows me to visit the site when needed, pick up my son from school, and do all the things I love.
Just to be clear, I’m still working, but I write my own schedule, and it’s set up to allow four days of work and three days of rest each week.
6. You’re Multi-Passionate and Want to Mix Your Interests
If you have multiple passions and want to combine them into something unique, an online offer is a great way to do that. Maybe you’re passionate about yoga and nutrition, or yoga and mindfulness. An online offer allows you to mix these interests into a cohesive program that reflects your unique expertise and draws in students who resonate with your multifaceted approach.
When you create an online offer that truly reflects your multi-passionate personality, that’s when you’ll thrive the most because your offers will be uniquely you.
7. You Realize the Income Potential of Online Offers
Here’s the reality check—if you were selling just 10 courses at $200 per month, you’d be making more money than teaching 15 classes per week. The math speaks for itself. An online offer can be more scalable and profitable than teaching in person, especially if you’re offering something that students can access anytime, anywhere.
This kind of income potential gives you the financial stability and freedom to focus on what you love. Just imagine, selling 10 courses at $200 brings an extra $2,000 per month in revenue. And this can be from a course you created months or even years ago.
Conclusion
If any of these signs resonate with you, it might be time to start creating your online offer. It’s not just about making more money; it’s about creating a business that aligns with your values, passions, and lifestyle. An online offer gives you the opportunity to reach more people, go deeper with your students, and gain more freedom in your life.
